Ilocos Sur is a province in the Philippines situated in the Ilocos Region occupying the northwestern section of Luzon. Its capital is the City of Vigan.

The province has a land area of 2,596.00 square kilometers or 1,002.32 square miles. Its population as determined by the 2015 Census was 689,668. This represented 13.72% of the total population of the Ilocos Region, 1.20% of the overall population of the Luzon island group, or 0.68% of the entire population of the Philippines. Based on these figures, the population density is computed at 266 inhabitants per square kilometer or 688 inhabitants per square mile.
