Salcedo, formerly known as Bauguen, is a landlocked municipality in the coastal province of Ilocos Sur.
The municipality has a land area of 103.44 square kilometers or 39.94 square miles which constitutes 3.98% of Ilocos Sur's total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 11,110. This represented 1.57% of the total population of Ilocos Sur province, or 0.21% of the overall population of the Ilocos Region.
