Upi is a landlocked municipality in the coastal province of Maguindanao.

The municipality has a land area of 742.95 square kilometers or 286.85 square miles which constitutes 7.45% of Maguindanao's total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 59,004. This represented 4.40% of the total population of Maguindanao province, or 1.34% of the overall population of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
