Pangutaran is a coastal municipality in the island province of Sulu.
The municipality has a land area of 611.66 square kilometers or 236.16 square miles which constitutes 13.45% of Sulu's total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 36,374. This represented 3.64% of the total population of Sulu province, or 0.83% of the overall population of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
