Santa Monica, formerly known as Sapao, is a coastal municipality in the province of Surigao del Norte.
The municipality has a land area of 39.19 square kilometers or 15.13 square miles which constitutes 2.01% of Surigao del Norte's total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 9,423. This represented 1.76% of the total population of Surigao del Norte province, or 0.34% of the overall population of the Caraga region.
