Catarman is a coastal municipality in the province of Northern Samar. It serves as the provincial capital.

The municipality has a land area of 464.43 square kilometers or 179.32 square miles which constitutes 12.57% of Northern Samar's total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 97,879. This represented 15.31% of the total population of Northern Samar province, or 2.15% of the overall population of the Eastern Visayas region.
