Palanas is a coastal municipality in the island province of Masbate.
The municipality has a land area of 119.53 square kilometers or 46.15 square miles which constitutes 2.89% of Masbate's total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 27,322. This represented 3.01% of the total population of Masbate province, or 0.45% of the overall population of the Bicol Region.
