Datu Montawal, formerly known as Pagagawan, is a landlocked municipality in the coastal province of Maguindanao.

The municipality has a land area of 461.10 square kilometers or 178.03 square miles which constitutes 4.74% of Maguindanao's total area. Its population as determined by the 2015 Census was 34,820.
