Kabuntalan, formerly known as Tumbao, is a landlocked municipality in the coastal province of Maguindanao.
The municipality has a land area of 371.08 square kilometers or 143.27 square miles which constitutes 3.72% of Maguindanao's total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 25,439. This represented 1.90% of the total population of Maguindanao province, or 0.58% of the overall population of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
