Kabuntalan, formerly known as Tumbao, is a landlocked municipality in the coastal province of Maguindanao.

The municipality has a land area of 371.08 square kilometers or 143.27 square miles which constitutes 3.81% of Maguindanao's total area. Its population as determined by the 2015 Census was 17,276. This represented 1.47% of the total population of Maguindanao province, or 0.46% of the overall population of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
