Banguingui, formerly known as Tongkil, is a coastal municipality in the island province of Sulu.

The municipality has a land area of 352.59 square kilometers or 136.14 square miles which constitutes 10.26% of Sulu's total area. Its population as determined by the 2015 Census was 24,161. This represented 2.93% of the total population of Sulu province, or 0.64% of the overall population of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. Based on these figures, the population density is computed at 69 inhabitants per square kilometer or 177 inhabitants per square mile.
