The municipality has a land area of 1,355.48 square kilometers or 523.35 square miles which constitutes 13.57% of Agusan del Sur's total area. Its population as determined by the 2015 Census was 54,801. This represented 7.82% of the total population of Agusan del Sur province, or 2.11% of the overall population of the Caraga region.
