Bayawan, formerly known as Tolong, is a coastal component city in the province of Negros Oriental.

The city has a land area of 699.08 square kilometers or 269.92 square miles which constitutes 12.98% of Negros Oriental's total area. Its population as determined by the 2015 Census was 117,900. This represented 8.70% of the total population of Negros Oriental province, or 1.59% of the overall population of the Central Visayas region. Based on these figures, the population density is computed at 169 inhabitants per square kilometer or 437 inhabitants per square mile.
