Burauen is a landlocked municipality in the coastal province of Leyte.
The municipality has a land area of 265.33 square kilometers or 102.44 square miles which constitutes 4.19% of Leyte's total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 52,511. This represented 2.96% of the total population of Leyte province, or 1.15% of the overall population of the Eastern Visayas region.
