Merida is a coastal municipality in the province of Leyte.
The municipality has a land area of 95.21 square kilometers or 36.76 square miles which constitutes 1.50% of Leyte's total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 31,574. This represented 1.78% of the total population of Leyte province, or 0.69% of the overall population of the Eastern Visayas region.
